Dr. Guang Xu

Dr. Guang Xu, L.Ac., OMD, Ph.D., Dipl.Ac, is a national board-certified and Maryland licensed Acupuncturist, with 10+ years of experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her practice areas include Acupuncture (Alternative Medicine), Chinese Herbal Medicine, Cupping, Moxibustion.

Dr. Xu graduated from Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China in 1984. After she spent five years of training in Chinese and western medicine, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree and worked in University Hospital as a physician of TCM (acupuncture, herb etc.) and Western medicine for 10 years. During her time at the hospital, extensive training and experience in acupuncture and Chinese medicine and herb applied to different diseases allowed her to gain a broad knowledge base, clinical diagnostic and treatment skills, and the ability to confidently manage her clinical practice. She specializes in the treatment of pain, stroke, women’s health, immune disorder, allergies, stress, depression, insomnia, some nervous system diseases, such as paralysis. From 1988 she studied ShuangJinHua (herbs) on antibacterial effect and immune functions, which earned the First Place of TCM Science Advanced Technology Award in Heilongjiang Provence, China in 1996. Dr. Xu acquired her Ph. D degree in Medical Science from Kagawa University School of Medicine in Japan in 1998. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on Macrolide Antibiotics as immunomodulators that regulate immune functions.

After moving to the US in 2001, Dr. Xu had conducted medical research at Howard University School of Medicine for five years. While there, Dr. Xu’s work focused on the neuroscience and pathology of Alzheimer’s disease. She also studied the effects of medications on food intake and body weight change.

Dr. Xu then worked at Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute and Neurodiagnostic LLC for 12 years. She conducted clinical research in neuroscience and was one of the main members that completed the clinical trial in Alzheimer’s diagnostic.

Dr. Xu has published a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed professional journals.
